Patrick Plessis

Expert Standardization & Regulation on Security electronics industries, Digital ID and Cybersecurity

 

Since 2018, Patrick Plessis is the President of the Standard Commission AFNOR (CN CSA), and Senior Expert in Standard & Regulation in the strategy consulting firm AKCYB.

From 2006 to 2017, Patrick has been the Government Affairs & Standard Director of Gemalto. During this period, he managed the legal and standardization issues related to digital transformation such as the NIS Directive, the GDPR, the eIDAS Regulation, the Cybersecurity act, ePassports, eIDs, tachographs, driving licences, IoT.

Patrick Plessis has represented Gemalto in the public national and international organization bodies (the European Commission, etc.), and has led groups of experts. For instance, Patrick has been the Head of the French delegation of experts to ISO SC17 WG3, WG10 at the European Commission. Finally, Patrick has identified and developed strategies on relevant technologies to help SME or groups to master the new technologies of digital and Cyber Security in their digital evolution.

In 2002-2003, Patrick has been the Advanced R&D Industrialisation manager for advanced ID project in Gemalto.

From 1992 to 1997, Patrick has been the security manager of the French Banking Card Development and deployment for the GIE CB “Groupement Cartes Bancaires” (Payment Securization).

Finally, from 1978 to 1989, Patrick managed industrial development projects of Security-related microprocessor cards, smart cards, optical devices and embedded communication systems at Tokheim (ex Satamatic) and Thomson-Thales.

Patrick Plessis holds a Master in electronics as well as a Master of law from the University Aix-en-Provence-Marseille (IEP Science Po Aix).
