Philippe Brégi is President since 2008 of the OpticsValley cluster, the advanced technology network in Ile-de-France and, since 2012, is also President of the Comité National d’Optique et Photonique (CNOP), a structure that federates all the French players in the photonics field.

Philippe Brégi started his professional life in 1977 at the Microwave Link Division of Thomson CSF (now Thales). He then joined in 1983 the Transmission department of Alcatel-CIT, where he came to manage a number of long distance optical transmission product lines.

From 1989 Philippe was asked to exert these responsibilities at the global level, coordinating the optical transmission development and marketing activities of all the group companies throughout the world.

In 1993 Philippe Brégi was appointed marketing and sales manager of Alcatel Optronics, the optical component subsidiary of Alcatel, before becoming CEO of the company in 2000. When Alcatel Optronics was sold to the American company Avanex he was in charge of integrating his company into the new group.

From 2004 to 2016 Philippe Brégi was CEO of the Egide Group, specialised in the design, manufacture and sale of hermetic packages for chips, in defence and security applications, as well as in civilian applications (aerospace, electronic and optical equipment, communications).

His extensive experience both in large companies and in SMEs, and his expertise in communications and photonics are a precious asset for managers needing advice on how to develop their activities in these fields.

Philippe Brégi graduated as engineer from the Ecole Centrale of Lyon and has a diploma of the IAE Lyon.
